About Tucson Edu Funding and our data

An independent, record-based guide to paying for private, Catholic, Christian, classical and special-education schooling in Tucson and the rest of Pima County.

Tucson Edu Funding exists because the money for private education in Pima County is scattered: a state account run from Phoenix, dozens of tuition organizations with different calendars, a diocesan STO, district evaluations and child care programs with waiting lists. We put those pieces on one site and tie them to the actual schools families are choosing between.

We are not a school or a government office. We don't decide awards, and nothing here guarantees an amount. When we cite a figure, it comes from the Arizona Department of Education, the Department of Revenue, state statute or the organization that runs the program, and we say which year it describes.

Where the school data comes from

Federal records. Enrollment, teacher counts, grade span and religious affiliation come from the U.S. Department of Education's Private School Survey public-use files for 2023-24, with 2021-22 used for schools that skipped the latest survey. 59 of our Pima County schools have a federal record.

STO school lists. Each School Tuition Organization posts the schools it serves; we matched those lists to federal records in Oct 2026. CTSO's list was not part of the match. 28 schools appear only on STO lists, so we show their name and city without an address.

Associations. ACSI, Cognia, NCEA, NAIS, ACCS and AMI memberships come from each organization's public directory. Being listed is not proof of accreditation; ask the school.

Profile pages. A school gets its own page only when the records support a useful one: a federal record plus meaningful enrollment, two or more STO listings, or an association listing. Every other school still appears in our tables.

Funding figures. ESA ranges and allowed uses come from the Arizona Department of Education and state statute; STO credit limits and totals come from the Arizona Department of Revenue.

Local context comes from AZPM and Arizona Luminaria reporting on Tucson Unified, Amphitheater and Pima Community College, from CTSO and the Diocese of Tucson, and from Military OneSource for Davis-Monthan. Neither public source reports tuition.

Arizona keeps no registry of private schools, so our list can miss a new microschool or church program. Tell us about it and we'll check the records and add it.

Tucson Edu Funding is a project of Boss Leads. We are not a school, the Arizona Department of Education, ClassWallet, a School Tuition Organization, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tucson, Arizona's Catholic Tuition Support Organization, any Pima County school district, Pima Community College, or a government agency.
